National Rehabilitation Research Institute(KNRRI) has become a central axis of rehabilitation research in Korea by planning and realizing research to suit the circumstances of Korea. We continue in our endless endeavor to maximize research and development outcomes that will help the lives of people with disabilities.

KNRRI opened on 12th of November, 2008. It's the first research center for people with disabilities in Korea. The purpose of KNRRI is to improve rehabilitation technologies and policies for people with disabilities. Recently, the number of people with disabilities has increased rapidly because of adult diseases, safety accidents, and population aging, so much so that it becomes a social problem requiring new and improved welfare policies for people with disabilities. KNRRI was launched in response to the needs for solving those social issues.

KNRRI is a multidisciplinary research team composed of medical doctors, clinicians, engineers, and health scientists. There are 3 departments in KNRRI, conducting research studies on rehabilitation standardization and policy, rehabilitative and assistive technology, clinical research for rehabilitation.

We encourage people with disabilities and the aged to participate in rehabilitation research from beginning to end so that their needs can be fully reflected in our research. I hope that KNRRI will grow up to be a world-class research institute through a collaborative approach among KNRC clinicians, engineers and social scientists of academia. We’d like to dedicate ourselves to promoting the quality of life for people with disabilities, and to advancing rehabilitative & assistive technologies in hopes of raising the level of national rehabilitation services on a par with that of the advanced countries.
